    I contacted Bill about 9 months ago in regards to helping me out with my diet and exercise. I had started running in April of 2010 and had completed my first 5k in August. I had just been running on my own and wasn’t real sure if what I was doing was the correct way to do things. After completing the 5k I set the goal of eventually running a 10k, half marathon and a marathon…but knew I couldn’t do it on my own.

    I also had been focusing mainly on my exercising and knew that if I wanted to lose the remainder of my weight that I would have to change my eating habits as well. I had talked to Bill in the past about food and exercising and felt he was a great resource for both.

    Bill was more than willing to be my “coach” in both my diet and exercise. The trouble I had was trying to find the time to meet with him on a regular basis. I knew that in order for it to work, it had to be something that I worked on every day…not just once a week. So, Bill proposed the idea of being my coach via email. At first I was a little worried that I wouldn’t get that connection or the motivation I needed to keep me on track, but after the first couple weeks, I believed otherwise. Emailing was the perfect answer for both our busy schedules.

    I have found many, many benefits to having an email support system; some of which include: I can contact him 24/7, I can contact him on a daily basis, I can ask one quick question or many, many questions, he can provide me with instant feedback, it allows him time to reflect on my question and get back to me with an accurate and thorough answer, I too also have time to reflect back on his answers and comments, I can save the answers to my questions and go back over them if I need too, it helps me from rambling and getting off track and I am much more honest in an email then I ever would be face to face.

    Emailing has worked out extraordinarily well for me and my schedule. Bill has been incredibly informative and reflective in my statements and questions. He is very timely in responding and always lets me know when he is unavailable. Since we started in September, I have lost an additional 25 pounds, am extremely confident and prepared to run a 10k this summer and am starting to pick a date to run a half marathon! I know I couldn’t have done it alone and Bill has been a key factor in helping me reach my goals!
