Val Hahamy

Evanston, IL 60201

The fitness industry first caught my eye in 1983. I began as a group exercise instructor and transitioned to a personal trainer in early 1996. At Taylor YMCA and Highland Park Hospital Health & Fitness Center (now known as Sky Fitness) I also held managerial positions.

My personal training certification is through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and in 2009 I completed my Cancer Exercise Specialist Certification through The Cancer Exercise Training Institute (CETI). Other certifications I have are, Body Flow (aka Centergy), Resistance Training Specialist, First Aid, CPR, and AED. I have also been a member of IDEA Health & Fitness Association since 2002. I volunteer my time working with The American Cancer Society, Rosewood Care Center, and Boy Scouts of America.

I have a particular interest in giving lectures and workshops to corporations and schools and implementing small group and partner training. My focus is to bring wellness to the forefront of our society, in order to combat stress, anxiety, injury, disease, and obesity.

Val is extremely effective..equally encouraging and compassionate. She has been wonderful for me as a recent cancer patient and my daughter who suffers from dysautonomia. Her approach is personalized to the goals and abilities of each client. She applies her vast professional knowledge in a way that improves the lives of her clients one workout at a time. She is commited to her clients and is a wonderful trainer. We both highly recommend her.

I have trained with Val for atleast 10 years. She varies workouts according to your physical capabilities at the time. I have had many injuries over the years and she has worked with me through rehab. Val is very knowledgeable, flexible and caring. She not only is my trainer, but has become a good friend.

Val has guided me through an injury to becoming strong and focused. Her creative knowledgable words have kept me in true form and the variety of "easy" exercises have put me on a path for success. While I just finished my established weeks of sessions... I'm ready for more challenges. So I plan to go back for more. Not only am I in better shape physically, but mentally Val has put me in a positive light, not to mention all the new muscles I learned about. She's great.

I have had many trainers over the past 20 years, and Val is the best. She pays close attention to form, and if one exerise does not work, she has another that will work the same muscles. Also, because I usually only have 30 minutes to exercise, she incorporates a variety of muscle groups into a single activity, so my whole body gets the workout it needs in a short period of time.

I don't think I am at all athletic, but because Val is enthusiastic and encouraging I am getting stronger. She has taught me new exercises and makes sure I do them correctly. I cannot imagine a better trainer for me.
