In 1987 I began teaching “aerobics” for the Department of Recreation at Indiana University. I received a B.S. in Exercise Science from that University in 1991 and began working in fitness centers in the Boston area. My fascination with the health benefits of exercise led me to achieve a Master’s Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Northeastern University in 1995. My career includes 13+ years at Healthworks Fitness Centers for Women, where I was a Personal Trainer, Group Exercise Instructor, and Corporate Fitness Director. I managed the Personal Training, Fitness, and Nutrition departments of the company’s 5 locations, developed the club’s fitness programming, and implemented an extensive community outreach program. Since 1991, I have held various certifications, including The American Council on Exercise (ACE), The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and Johnny G. Spinning©. My motto is that any exercise is better than none, and I passionately believe that exercise is the single best thing we can do for our health and overall well-being. Variety and efficiency are the keys to ongoing change, and Personal Training provides these. My goal is simply to bring out the client’s best by working together as a team, providing expertise, encouragement, and motivation. In the words of Theodore Roosevelt, “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” And laugh while you’re doing it!!
