Susan Finley

Alma, MI 48801

I have been in the fitness industry since 1984, beginning with teaching aerobics in the corporate wellness field. I have a B.S. degree from Auburn University and began my personal training career in 1989, about the time personal training came into being. I was gold certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise in 1990. In 1998, I received my Level I Resistance Training Specialist certification and became the only certified ChiWalking/ChiRunning instructor in the Southeast in 2007. In 2011 I was awarded the Corrective Exercise Specialist certification from the National Association of Sports Medicine and corrective exercise has become my specialty and passion. In 2014 and 2015 I completed the TRX courses Suspension Training, Rip Training and the highest level certification TRX offers, TRX TEAM. Also in 2014, I opened TrainSmarter, with a mission to make exercise accessible to all, while addressing the knee, hip, back, shoulder and neck pain that limits the lives of so many people. Most recently, I achieved NCFI Corporate Fitness Specialist and Online Coaching Specialist certifications. My specialties include corrective exercise, strength training, running technique, sports-specific training, TRX training and mentoring fitness professionals. But my love is corrective exercise because this knowledge has changed the lives of so many people.
