With more than 40 years of martial arts training and a lifetime of physical fitness involvement, I retired from a 26 year career in Information Technologies to join the Health and Wellness Revolution in 2003 as a full-time Personal Trainer. Beginning with Renaissance Club Sport in Walnut Creek, California I soon became known as a caring and successful lifestyle coach to clients of all ages and fitness levels. I continue to expand these services to further promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, particularly to demographics with special needs. These include the Parkinson Disease Network, Cancer Survivorship programs and martial arts instruction. My training approach involves taking a holistic view of each client and student's specific needs, educating and guiding them to successful achievement of their goals. My current practice spans fitness clubs, schools, hospitals and community centers where I employ a diverse set of services. Awards that include Renaissance Club Sport’s Associate of the Year and Diablo Magazines’ Best of The East Bay serve as testament to my abilities, passion and success.

My mission statement,” Live Life Daily in a State of Excellence and Appreciation. Teach others to do the Same", reflects my passion to provide the highest level of products and services possible to achieve long and healthy lives for all. I worked out with Pedro at Club Sport. I would recommend him to anyone interested in training and pursuing a healthier lifestyle. He is thorough, knowledgable and fun to work regardless of age.

“I’m most grateful for your personal dedication assisting me in my recovery. Not only you have unselfishly dedicated countless hours as my Personal Trainer to help me regain my strength, but as my Lifestyle Coach, have guided and influenced me when making many difficult decisions. All your efforts have helped me stay focused and successfully persevere during these most difficult times. Forever grateful.” - Maria B. (Three-time cancer survivor; Holistic lifestyle client; martial arts student)

“Pedro, I wanted to let you how grateful I have been for your re-introduction to me of the martial arts after being away from it for many years. Your coaching and the training are second to none. I look forward to your amazing classes every week. Your personal guidance has helped me stay grounded & fit in my own life. My family and I are impressed and very grateful for how you have reached out to share your fitness and wellness knowledge with all us around you and in our community. A student for 2 years! Thanks!” - Bob J. (Financial professional; martial arts student)

“In today’s world of ever-changing fitness fads, Pedro’s approach is unique. It is both inventive and modern, yet refreshingly practical and highly effective. His many years of martial arts studies can be attributed to his deep understanding of human bio-mechanics and to his vast arsenal of exercises, drills and technics. My favorite Pedroizm is “If it hurts – don’t do it. If it’s hard – do 2 more”. And if you are lazy and exercise is not for you, try a workout with Pedro just for his sense of humor – it’s well worth it. Cheers.” - Igor A. (Business owner; martial arts student)

“I had been out the touch with martial arts for over 20 years when I saw Pedro’s karate class at the gym. I watched him for several weeks teach the children’s class as well as the adult class. I was impressed with his commitment to the students, his patience, and his character as a teacher. I joined several months ago and it was the best decision for me mentally, physically, and spiritually. Pedro is a tremendous instructor who creates a space for all of us (students) to challenge ourselves while we are getting in the best shape of our lives. There is an old proverb that says,”When the student is ready, the teacher will appear”. I had the incredible fortune of having it be Pedro. Watashi no sensei arigatō.” - Bear (“Kuma-san”) B. (Educator; martial arts student)

“I have known Pedro Bernardy for going on seven years now, and have trained with him with some regularity throughout that period. I have been an athlete all my life, competing in numerous sports, participating in several marathons and countless “fun runs,” and continuing even now, with my brand new hip, to make physical conditioning a part of my daily plan. In other words, I know a little about physical conditioning and training. That said, there are some observations about Pedro that I feel qualified to make:

First, Pedro is a consummate professional in every aspect of his business. His education and understanding regarding both physical conditioning and martial arts is deep, and rich. Pedro is also continually searching for even more knowledge pertinent to his field. He has a genuine curiosity about all aspects of physical training.

Second, Pedro has a unique ability to be a kind and gentle coach who somehow manages to push his students to excellence in a way that would make most drill sergeants envious. He is a joy to train with, as he combines warmth and humor with the hardest drills.

Third, Pedro is a deeply compassionate human being. He genuinely cares about helping those he works with. As a result, he puts a great deal of time and thought into devising the best individual plan for his clients possible.

Train with Pedro and you can expect to have a lot of fun working very hard and taking your health to the highest level ever!” - Ed S. (Publishing professional; martial arts instructor)
