HI Stephanie! I just saw this post - sorry for the late reply. TRAM stands for Transverse Rectus Abdominas Myocutaneous Flap. I am an occupational therapist. I think it is important to find out what the health professionals goal is for that patient. Also, it would be wise to ask for suggestions on modifications as well as exercises to be avoided. Collaboration always works best to meet your clients goals.

Catherine: HI! I totally agree with you that correct instruction always includes the pelvic floor. Use of a ball or circle heightens the proprioceptive awareness of this area. That is why Kegels for most women is a mystery because they cannot feel the area without clenching the glutes.

HI Joanne! I have worked with TRAM Flap, DIEP Flap and Latissmus Dorsi Flap patients. There are many physical therapy resources that I use when working with these patients.
