I read my first book about health when I was a teenager and was intrigued by the premise that what we eat is central to our health and well-being. My big sister, certified health nut, was appalled at my diet of Tab and egg & cheese sandwiches. I laughed when she put wheat germ on everything and mixed something into my OJ that made it chewy. But, she was vibrant and healthy and I wasn’t, so I read the book and put some of the basics to the test. Transformational. I learned a very simple equation and its inverse: eat well = feel good. Eat poorly = feel badly.

That was the beginning of my life-long interest in health, nutrition, and the mind-body connection.

I discovered massage therapy during my college years, when I was suffering from chronic headaches. This too was transformational. My headaches disappeared. I developed an even deeper appreciation for my body and how to listen to it and care for it.

I was given a gym membership as a gift, and the timing was perfect. I was struggling through a tremendously difficult time in my life and I used exercise as my medicine to help me recover. Once again a big light came on: the more I moved, the better I felt.

My journey has not been without challenges. Over the course of my life I have learned from my experiences that what you eat, how you move, how you think and what you believe all directly affect not only the tangible aspects of your health, but the quality of your life on so many levels. I believe, and my clients consistently demonstrate, that growth through self-discovery leads to lasting change.

Change can be scary. Growth can be challenging. Truth can be hard. But it is so worth the effort. Whether your goal is about your weight, your health, your job, your relationships; having a partner in the process to help you stay clear, focused, motivated and accountable not only makes it far more fun, but vastly increases the likelihood of long term change.
