Lisa Federico

Lisa Federico: WELLNESS PROFESSIONAL including: Health Coach, Yoga Teacher and Personal Trainer. Thank you for your interest in my Health Coaching, Personal Training and/or Yoga programs! I would like to share a bit about myself with you. I have a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from University of MD and I have been working in the Health and Fitness field since 1983. I earned my Health Coaching certification through the highly respected Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I am a Gold Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). IDEA, a well-respected training and educational organization for fitness professionals, recognizes me as an Elite Personal Trainer. Although Personal Training is not a licensed profession, I am required and happily submit to earning continuing education credits to maintain my credentials and keep up with the ever-changing world of health and fitness. As well, I am a 200-hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher). Like Personal Training, Yoga is not a licensed profession. However, certification through Yoga Alliance as an RYT (registered yoga teacher) is the most respectable and responsible recognition available for yoga instructors today. Along with this certification, I have enjoyed a personal yoga practice for over 20 years. In that time, I have grown and benefited from the valuable and varied talents and teaching of many outstanding yoga instructors. I have had the good fortune to live and work internationally. In England, I spent a year working as a group fitness leader in a local club. As well, I lead water fitness classes and I was the aerobic trainer for a men’s community soccer team. During my 18-month stay in Canada, I volunteered at the Ottawa Heart Institute in the Prevention and Rehabilitation Center. Following my years abroad, I lived in and raised my family over the course of 20 years in Connecticut. During that time, I worked at the Hospital of St. Raphael’s Adult Fitness Center in Branford. Also, I developed and implemented ‘Health Kicks’, a circuit-training program for the VNA Community HealthCare in Branford. In Madison, I offered several programs through the Madison Beach and Recreation Department. A few examples include "Learn the Weight Room", a program to encourage proper and safe use of resistive training equipment, and "GearUp Teens", a program targeting middle school age girls to encourage active and healthy lifestyle choices. Finally, I am a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do (TKD), a martial arts form that embodies mental discipline and determination in addition to spiritual balance through physical activity. In 2014 I completed my first full Ironman Triathlon which included a 2.4 mile swim, 212 mile bike and marathon distance run, 26.2 miles. CLEAR MIND . STRONG BODY . OPEN HEART

Lisa was my fitness trainer for close to 13 years in Connecticut. She worked with me following a diagnosis of MS, modifying our routines as my physical abilities changed. Throughout our time together, Lisa was both highly professional and a warm, caring friend. She was also instrumental in advising me on my nutrition choices.

I cannot say enough good things about our time together. Francestown is very fortunate to have her!

I had the privilege of being in Lisa's Yoga class for three years. She gently challenged and encouraged us throughout the class and was always accomodating to those of us who had occassional physical challenges. Lisa has a kind and generous heart and is a great teacher of life and yoga.

I took yoga classes from Lisa for about three years. I felt I improved my body and mind. Lisa taught me so much more than yoga poses.
Lisa is a beautiful soul and that comes through at all her classes. Enjoy.
