Working out should be as much of a habit as brushing our teeth. Yet for many, getting their teeth pulled would trump exercise. Exercise has so many health benefits. It strengthens your bones, heart, and immune system. It can lower cholesterol, blood pressure, as well as lower blood glucose levels. It also relieves stress and promotes a feeling of well-being through the release of dopamine [dubbed 'the feel-good hormone']. With all of these amazing benefits, why is it that so many of us find excuse after excuse to NOT work out? As a Certified Health and Wellness Coach with a Master's Degree in Counseling, I have a unique combination of Counselor, Personal Trainer, and 68 years of life experience under my belt. I know that making and maintaining lasting change is not always easy and can be downright scary, to be honest. "Will I stick to these changes?" "Are they realistic?" "Am I gonna starve? "What if I don't wanna work out?" "WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE?" Through conversation, soul searching and some homework here and there, coaching will help you uncover the changes YOU want. We work on devising a plan, then tweaking or making changes until your plan is doable, makes you happy, and sets you up for success.
Having worked for years training in gyms, I have found that many people feel more comfortable exercising in the comfort and privacy of their homes. I know that gyms can be loud, overwhelming, and not everyone's cup of tea. If that is what's holding you back from working out, then in-home training might be right for you. As your trainer, I want you to succeed not fail. I will work within your level of fitness, physical limitations [if you have any], and boundaries. Workouts really can be fun.
