Nutrition can be defined as a way to nourish our bodies, but it doesn’t have to be defined by avoiding “bad” foods while only consuming “good” foods. This black and white thinking can lead to endless cycles of dieting which can turn into unhappiness and discouragement. I support the use of an “all foods fit” or “everything in moderation” approach. Whether we are working on disordered eating, weight management, or blood sugar abnormalities, the person as a whole (mind, body, and sprit) must be considered. Approaching clients from a nutrition therapist perspective, allows a safe space to create life-changing goals that lead to improvements in lifestyle and feeling good about ones self.
Lauren has a B.S. in dietetics with a minor in forensic science from Western Illinois University. She completed her dietetic internship in Pennsylvania where she discovered her passion for eating disorder nutrition therapy. She has worked in a variety of settings including residential treatment, long-term care, acute-care, and a clinic that treated prenatal, postpartum, and pediatric nutrition. Lauren hopes to peruse a master’s degree in professional counseling to better understand the psychology behind the relationship we form with food and how that impacts our lives and lifestyle.
