For over seven years I have been taking water aerobics and or yoga with John D. Furlow. The experience is and has been rewarding for my mind and body. I am more aware of proper movements to protect myself from injury. He has a knack for starting your exercise routine off with “your body’s limitations,” and moving you gradually to the next level and the next. I witnessed this gift and skill of his when I starting taking the classes and when my husband decided to join a few years later. When I would get home from class my husband would ask, “can you really feel the difference in your body?” My response would always be “yes.” Eventually my husband decided to join me in class, and has continued. Whenever I miss a few classes I hear Mr. Furlow’s voice with those gentle reminders, "relax your shoulders, sit or stand up straight, breathe." Thank you for kindly guiding me to a healthier body. In 2002, two years after a kidney transplant, my nephrologist suggested that I find a Yoga class to help me strengthen my body and speed up recovery from the transplant. I had been on dialysis for 6.5 years before the transplant and had been relatively sedentary. My doctor wanted that to end and for him yoga was the perfect road back to optimum health and self-confidence regarding my body's ability to become perfectly healthy and operational post-transplant. Since that first class I have taken yoga, aqua aerobics, and aqua boot camp from Johnny. His genuine concern and caring for each and every student is remarkable. I am a retired guidance counselor who taught for 17 years before becoming a guidance counselor and I have never seen a teacher with more compassion, concern, expertise, knowledge and genuine humanity. He is the best thing that ever happened to my physical maintenance, spiritual development and self confidence. He knows about all of my physical and health concerns and is consistently nurturing and reassuring. I owe him more than I can ever describe or repay. Learning from him and being cared for by him is a genuine gift for which I am eternally thankful

NAMASTE, one of the words that I learned from My Yogi Mr Furlow which means "the great in me greets the great in you", and with that a wonderful learning experience began. I am a 6'2" man that had very little flexibility until I met Johnny 12yrs ago, til this day through his training I can still forward bend and place my palms flat on the floor.
I can go on for hours on the training and thought process learned from MY YOGI, but give it a try for yourself, you will not be disappointed.
incidentally I moved back into the area so I can rejoin the class for the new year. Thanks Johnny for you are MY YOGI and MENTOR...

I started yoga with Johnny about 6 years ago and the most valuable lesson I have learned from him is "listen to your body." He is sincerely interested in his students' yoga experience. I am glad I found him.

My sincere belief is that there is no better yoga instructor than Mr. Furlow. He is a rare combination of task master and caregiver. He desperately desires for his students to learn the ins-and-outs of their bodies, and the whys-and-what-for of yoga, while genuinely having concern for each student's physical capabilities. In large or small classes, he seems to have "eyes in back of his head." If a posture is not right, he sees it; if a grimace crosses a face on the other side of the room, he sees it. He seems to know each student's capability, and refuses to let any hurt themselves. I came to his yoga class with injuries and I am MUCH MUCH improved because of Mr. Furlow's guidance and concern.
