Joanne Baizan

Ottawa, ON K2P

As former dancer, I began my fitness career in 1981 as a freelance aerobic instructor. As my clientele grew, I decided to open my first aerobic studio in 1982 along with my husband, Hansen, also a former dancer, called "Bodywise at The Body Warehouse" in Tampa Florida teaching a variety of classes for three years. Certified with IDEA & AFAA, I also became a Continuing Education provider for IDEA traveling and presenting at several National Conventions & Regional State Meetings. We opened our 2nd studio "Bodywise Aerobic & Wellness Center" in 1984, which we operated for 5 years teaching a variety of classes & offering personal training as well as continuing education seminars to instructors. When my husband entered the field of medical sales, we decided to close the studio to start our family, and I continued teaching at several local clubs as well as traveling in the US and overseas as a continuing education provider. I eventually moved my Bodywise business to All American Dance Factory in 1997 where my daughters were competitive dancers and also began teaching pilates at several local pilates studios. I also do private instruction out of a studio in my home.
