As a military spouse, I have found that regular exercise and “gym time” were a treasured part of my day, a routine that I could hold on to, regardless of where we were relocated to. Being around other individuals who were motivated, motivated me to make the most of my day and I felt better, mentally and physically, every time I left the gym.
This realization has led me to where I am today, and I am grateful to be part of the NPS team so that I can share the lifelong journey of health and fitness with the patrons of the MWR fitness center. I believe that exercise, physical activity, and strength training are valuable components to overall wellness. In addition to being a fitness instructor, I am also completing the field experience portion of my professional counseling post-graduate education. I am an avid cyclist and enthusiastic mountain bicyclist and love doing just about any outdoor activity.
My goals in being a competent fitness professional are:
*Value individuality- each person is unique, each person has different desires and motivations for exercise
*Provide support and encouragement
*Help develop healthy, safe, and effective fitness habits
*Provide instruction on how to incorporate fitness in daily routines
*Make fitness a positive part of the day!
As a group fitness instructor, I have had the opportunity to work with children, adults and mature adults, helping them to reach their individual goals, whether it was to increase strength, increase cardio ability, lose weight, or increase mobility. As a personal trainer, I understand the importance of personal goals and that time is valuable. Goals should be attainable and measurable, yet all things worth having take effort and I will challenge clients to push hard and reach their goals.
