    I had a fantastic experience working with Jake over the past year. During that time he was able to take me from average mid-distance endurance racer to full distance IRONMAN. I found the mobile training option to be particularly convenient. Each month Jake would load a month full of workouts, including notes and videos that I could use to ensure I was utilizing proper technique. Jake personalized my program to fit my needs, I wouldn't have been able to ramp up my conditioning in the time I did without his support. I would absolutely recommend Jake as an athletic trainer.

    I’ve been really happy with Jake as my triathlon and running coach for the past 2 years. I decided to work with a coach because I have a tendency toward overthinking and was making myself anxious trying to devise the perfect plan – not to mention, spending far too much time on it. By finding a coach who understands me and who I can trust, I was able to take that weight off my shoulders. Bonus that Jake has also been great in motivating me to stretch my personal goals beyond my comfort level.

    Jake’s training plans for me always include challenging and varied workouts that are targeted to my race calendar and goals. He consistently uploads 1-4 weeks of workouts into Training Peaks, with good instructions on what is expected for each workout. He pays attention to the feedback I provide after each workout – often responding with encouragement, advice, answers, and sometimes even, commiseration. I meet with Jake in person every other month or so. Sometimes we just meet over coffee to talk about how things are going, strategy for an “A-race”, or race calendar planning. Other times we meet for one-on-one skills training sessions. In between meetings, Jake will forward relevant articles, podcasts or videos for me to consider. He’s also always helpful when life happens and I need help adjusting my training calendar or when I have questions about a planned workout.

    Working with Jake has helped me to become a better athlete than I ever thought possible- transitioning me from a solid middle-to-bottom of the pack racer to routinely performing toward the top of my age group - even reaching the podium for my age group a few times.

    I have been working with Jake for about a year and a half. I can't say enough about what he has done to help me transform my perspectives on exercise, health, wellness, and nutrition. He really knows how to approach the whole person when developing your training; he created a custom program that takes into account my goals, preferences, and lifestyle (busy, single mom!). For years I dreamed of being amazingly fit at the age of 50, and with Jake's help I am there and still improving. I am stronger, leaner and more fit than I have been in years. Jake met me where I was at physically when we first began and gradually helped me progress (without injuries) and improve in all the areas where I had been experiencing problems. I continue to be astounded by the change in my body composition (way more muscle mass), my improved flexibility (this was a big problem), and my ability to perform new activities I never would have imagined accomplishing at 50 (e.g., running 6 miles under 60 minutes and training for my first triathlon). Jake provides me with workouts for the entire week and using the app he provides gives me the accountability I need to stay on track. He has a wide range of strategies that address exercise, nutrition, motivation, overall physical and mental well being - if something doesn't work for you, he will find something else that does. As others have commented, Jake is a great trainer! Sign on to work with Jake, do the work he lays out for you, and I am confident you too will see amazing results.

    This review has been a long time coming! Jake is truly a remarkable trainer. He has exceeded all my expectations of how I thought my fitness would benefit by working out with a trainer. I first trained with Jake last summer to prepare for a marathon and my wedding. I trained with him weekly for about three months, and I lost 12 pounds and shaved 20 minutes off of my marathon PR to 3:46. Jake is personable, professional, and exceptionally knowledgeable about all aspects of fitness. I learned more about running logistics and cross-training in three months than I did in five years of being a novice marathoner. Jake is very willing to share his knowledge and quick to respond to any questions. The workouts themselves were different each time which kept it exciting and challenging. On the days I had less energy/my body wasn’t cooperating, Jake was able to pick up on that and adjust the workout so that I didn’t push it too far yet I was still challenged enough that I got the most I could out of the workout. For the off days I wasn’t training with Jake, he created a detailed workout schedule for me to follow that was specific to my fitness level and goals. I just recently started training with Jake again to prepare for my first 50k this fall, and I’m excited to get back to it! I’m a committed client, and I highly, highly recommend Jake to anyone looking to vastly improve their fitness.

    I have been working with Jake for about 8 months. He first began working with my husband (and still does) who strongly encouraged me to begin my own training with Jake who he described as "incredible." I was anxious and self-conscious as I am overweight, in my 50's and have never been an athlete. I should say that I have tried several other trainers and always felt I "failed." With Jake, from day one, I felt like it was possible to succeed. Jake is very easy going, nonjudgmental, and flexible. His capacity to assess my mood and energy level and make adjustments to my workout throughout my session so that I maximize my workout, and am successful, is amazing. My program is designed for me, and only me. I began with a goal of achieving a certain weight, but over the months have shifted that goal (although I saw that I had lost 13 of the 25 lbs I want to loose when I checked a month ago!). The practice of strength and movement and being in my physical self feels more important now than weight. My goal is to keep moving and keep getting stronger. I had the opportunity to test my achievements when I went on vacation and hiked a fairly strenuous hike that in the past had exhausted me. It was easy! I enjoyed every moment and wasn't sore and spent afterwards. Jake has a lot of knowledge about food and diet, and makes that available as I want it. He is responsive to emails quickly and with enthusiasm. I recommend Jake without any hesitations. He is a wonderful trainer and a lovely person.
