Not to sound cliche, but Coach Hashim @ Plant Powered Fitness literally changed my life! I just completed a 90 day fitness program and lost 17lbs and 3% body fat. That may not seem like much to some, but what l learned about health, nutrition and myself along the way was invaluable.

Adopting the vegan lifestyle (even if only temporarily) can seem daunting initially, but Coach Hashim helped me to realize why doing so was so important not only for myself, but for my family and the environment as well. I have struggled with my weight for years and could never find a lifestyle that would allow me to lose the weight and keep it off. His knowledge of health and fitness made me reconsider everything I've learned about food over the years and gave me a different perspective on what is possible and important in my life.

The meal plans are simple, easy to follow and surprisingly delicious! I discovered new favorite dishes along the way and even my kids are enjoying some of the newfound foods and ingredients. Not being much of a cook, it is very rewarding to be able to prepare meals for my family that I know are not only tasty, but extremely nutritious as well.

The workouts - I for one love a good challenge and there's no exception here! Plant Powered Fitness has a great variety of routines that are scheduled for each day of the week so you always know what to expect and the PPF app makes it super easy to follow. I left a pool of sweat on the floor after every workout and before long, I began to look forward to getting to the gym (which was new for me). Of course, when taking on a new lifestyle it's not always pretty...there were definitely times when I lost my way and Coach Hashim provided great motivational support over the phone, through custom videos and was always accessible via the private Facebook group.

Overall, my experience with PPF has been great! I have more energy, I feel stronger, I don't have that bloated feeling after meals, I feel lighter on my feet and have a mental clarity I never experienced before. A big thanks to Coach Hashim for the motivation to live a healthier life!

By my 42nd birthday I was dealing with high blood pressure, thyroid issues, and a host of other medical issues. The father of four boys ranging in age from 24 to 2 years old. I had a difficult time climbing stairs or even keeping up with my 2 year old son. Thirty years of my life spent in wrestling, boxing, kickboxing, and martial arts and I would get winded cutting my grass.

When my 2 year old was born I decided I wanted to make a change. I gave up red meat, cigarettes, and alcohol. I kept telling myself I was going to start working out and never really did. At this point I had hit my heaviest weight ever at 294 and was grossly out of shape. I had known Coach Hashim for years and knew him to be a talented educator, a positive example for others, and great motivator. I also knew Coach Hashim to just be a good human being that took his personal health seriously. I never knew him to be judgmental or a person to push his personal beliefs on others. So when I saw him post a beach-body challenge online I thought that if anyone could help guide me back to where I wanted to be in life he could.

The average person I talk to about the changes I have made thinks that a plant-based lifestyle is eating tofu cubes and salad everyday and that just isn't true. After going through this challenge and changing my diet my thyroid issues are gone. After blood work and another ultra-sound my doctor cannot find anything. I have gone from taking 3 blood pressure pills a day to taking one. In three months my weight is now 255 and I am working out 3-4 days a week. I went from wearing a 3XL to XL and from a 42 pant to a 38.

I don’t want to go back to my old diet. I went from barbecuing every week and frying turkey on thanksgiving to having no interest in going back to eating meat. I like the way I feel now and I like what I eat. The process isn’t easy but in my life nothing that is worth having ever has been.

    Hi all,
I just wanted to share my experience of the last 10 months working out with Hashime Mteuzi of Plant Powered Fitness.
First of all, I am down approx. 20 pounds and at lease 3 belt holes. Could be more because I had to buy a smaller belt. Also had to buy a new wardrobe of pants.
I have noticably gaind muscule and definition as well as streangth and mobility/range od motion.
I've also had a wonderful bonding experience with my son who is working out with me in small group training.
This all works because Hashim hold me accountable for my health and well being and is a true partner in my fitness.
By the way, I'm 52 years old and Hashim is a pleasure to work with.

    A New Life

I am a very fortunate woman. I have been pressed against death’s door as a result of a life taking diagnosis. A healthy blood sugar number can vary between 70, and 150 according to our age. I am told that during my initial exam in emergency, I did not know my name, my address, the date or the name of our President of the United States. During initial exams, the medical team discovered that my sugar measured 1100! My pancreas was shutting down as a result of this dilemma. I was moved quickly to Intensive Care. This was the arena for the fight for my life.

I missed some of this movie because of course I was not conscious. When I achieved consciousness several days had been spent. My children surrounded me and I tried to understand what had happened to me. I could not quite put the pieces together. For my cognitive ability was diminished by my circumstance. I did however hear the Doctor as he told my four children: “ I see that your mother has been quite a mover and a shaker in her life. However at this time she must focus on being a patient. I also understand that she lives alone However, at this time she cannot live independently. She will need care. Her diagnosis is Diabetes 2 and Pancreatitis Steroid Induced. She will need help managing her medication. She must take two types of insulin and she must have a total of 6 injections a day. Additionally, there is more medication that she must have to deal with for her diagnosis.” Sadness washed over me like a wave rushing to the sand.

Hashim Mteuzi, my youngest son quickly said, “ That’s ok. I will take Mom home with me. I will start her on a vegan diet and I will monitor her exercise. I have been encouraging Mom to change her diet.” He turned to me and saw my tears. Very gently, he said to me, “Don’t cry Mom, we can beat this. We will beat this.”

April 7, 2013 my son brought me to his home to recuperate. My vegan life style began that day. My exercise began the next morning. He worked hard to teach me. I worked hard to learn what he was giving me. My body responded. I lived with him for almost 6 months. During that time I was able to discontinue the insulin injections. Next, I was able to discontinue the insulin pills. 17 months and 36 pounds later I am strong, I am vigorous and I am grateful. Because of the patient teaching of my son, I have a new life. I will be forever grateful.

I have been working with Hashim and PPF for about four months now and I could not be happier with the results. I've lost about forty pounds and gained more core body strength than I've had in years! Hashim is an excellent trainer both in regards to his technical knowledge and his abilities as a motivator and a positive force in my life.
