I love helping people and seeing others succeed! I love the combination of community-building and fitness!

If we want to change something, we must be challenged. I don't assume anything about anyone walking into my class or coming to me for personal training. My classes are always intended to be challenging, yet scalable so you can enter at any level and I will help you learn how to modify movements, regressing or progressing as you need. While you work at your own pace, I am here to deliver you a quality class or training session, motivate you, help you learn correct form, and help you safely achieve your own fitness goals. Your wellness is important to me. I meet every participant wherever they are on their fitness journey with no barriers for age, gender, race, fitness level, or ability. I will create possibilities for you in your fitness and wellness, and help identify specific goals you might not have thought were possible. I am all about an excellent, body-positive inclusive fitness experience that emphasizes mobility, balance, and strength first.

I have been training with Geoff for about 1 year now, as part of my transition from post-knee surgery PT into general fitness. We worked together at a gym 1/week for months until last March COVID made it impossible to work out in person. I decided to double-down and asked Geoff to train via zoom 2/week (and also more consistently than before, I admit). I was very happy and dialed it up to 3/week, which has been our schedule since April.

Geoff is extremely professional, methodical and thoughtful. He always comes into the session on time, prepared, and with a workout structure that provides both variety and depth. He adapts to my needs which often involve being careful about lateral movement, but can sometimes also involve the 'velvet hammer' on core moves, or taking 'mini-long' (but frequent) breaks other days. He is also a pleasure and fun to work with and we've developed our own language (as you can probably tell) which is fun. Besides being great technically he is good at adapting pace and intensity to my energy level which is hard to do via zoom.

As a bonus, Geoff is also extremely clear in his explanations and has no problem with explaining and demonstrating exercises, which I greatly appreciate as a non-native speaker.

Overall working with Geoff is a very enjoyable experience with great results and I highly recommend him!

Thank you Geoff you are amazing!

I have been training with Geoff since the end of December with a covid break
I scouted Geoff for two weeks before signing up.
I was attracted to his low key demeanor and the significant amount of teaching he did with clients.
I enjoy my training sessions very much. Geoff is well prepared, mixes things up to keep it fun and interesting. I always feel safe. I get lots of encouragement and feel. That I am getting closer to my fitness goals with my training. I highly recommend Geoff.

I did one-on-one personal training sessions with Geoff for a little over 6 months at Lloyd Athletic Club. My goal was weight loss via strength training, always keeping in mind that I couldn't do personal training forever so I wanted to feel comfortable creating a workout program for myself and knowing how to use the various machines and free weights in a gym.

I really appreciated Geoff's calm, rational approach to exercise. He built complete workouts for me to do under his guidance, as well as taught me new machines/new moves to target different muscle groups. We discussed both theory (why use barbell vs dumbbell, etc) as well as practicals (keep wrists straight on this movement, etc). He was encouraging whether I set a record or failed a set.

I learned new things while training with Geoff and I got some solid workouts in. Though I had to move gyms, Geoff offered continued advice via phone/text should I ever have questions or need support.

    Thanks, Geoff!

Geoff is the best fitness instructor I have ever had. He is a supremely gifted teacher in his ability to simultaneously accommodate various fitness levels and meet multiple needs in one class. An expert in his craft, he offers a stimulating variety of exercises and movements; no class is ever the same, repetitive, or boring. With amazing clarity and guidance – and daily role-modeling – he inspires students to push themselves while allowing them to modify movements as they need. Perhaps most importantly, he provides a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment, building a tight-knit, loyal following among students and a solid community within his classes. I was never able to stick with any routine – until I came upon Geoff’s class.

There are many fitness teachers in the world. Some are good, some not so good, and a few truly stand out in how they deeply benefit and enhance people’s lives. Geoff is not only in that highest category, he is irreplaceable.

I hate to exercise. I'm retired. I had to get up at 5 every morning for many years and was on my feet for nearly 12 hours every day. Retirement was going to be time for me to do whatever I wanted. I realized I wanted to do something to keep active. I had been to some boot camp classes before, but it was easy to skip several days a week. That was until I tried Geoff's class. Suddenly I'm recruiting my friends to join me and I'm going 3 days a week. I loved it. Parts of it I hated, of course, but I stil wanted to go and do it. He added a core and balance class. Why not? I took that and it really made a big difference. Geoff truly cares about his clients. He works every movement along with us to demonstrate correct form. I'm sorry that mayor Ted Wheeler's budget eliminated his position at Mt. Scott Community Center. Geoff is a community leader and will be sorely missed. His talent for motivating, teaching, caring, bringing people together are remarkable. The community we've formed as a result is special. Thanks to Geoff, I will continue to work out and do the things I really don't like to do, but realize how important they are to my overall fitness. Wherever he goes, I'd love to follow. He's a gem.
