The premise behind Warrior Spirit Project is that a broken spirit can be more harmful than a broken body. We take a holistic, evidence-based approach to help veterans and first responders transform traumatic experiences into personal health and well-being. As a specially-trained registered yoga teacher, I use a trauma-informed approach to yoga and meditation that focuses on somatosensory awareness and activation of the parasympathetic nervous system (turning "fight, flight, or freeze" to the OFF position). I have the utmost respect for the unique past and present experiences of each student and aim to provide each of them with the ability to move forward in confidence and with a new sense of ease.

I started my journey with Charla and the Warrior Spirit Project about 1 year ago. Charla is extremely knowledgeable in many aspects of trauma sensitive yoga and meditation. She has brought to my life Warrior at Ease training and introduced me to iRest Yoga Nidra Meditation. As a student in her classes I have learned so much. I am fortunate to have her as a mentor on my yoga journey and extremely happy to be a volunteer with the Warrior Spirit Project.

Charla's confidence and understanding in trauma sensitive yoga is very caring and professional. We petitioned her to join our adaptive yoga studio to offer her skills in iRest. Thanks to her tremendous success we have been able to provide an excellent weekly trauma sensitive restorative yoga class.

I found Charla through the Ace Professionals website. Her profile included several different certifications in health and wellness, but I was specifically drawn to the trauma sensitive yoga she offered through Warrior Spirit Project. Since connecting with Charla, I have had the opportunity to be a student in several of her Steady Warriors Yoga classes. The therapeutic yoga and meditation she offers has helped immensely in my personal journey toward wholeness. She is incredibly mindful of individual goals and very knowledgeable in her field.
As a USMC veteran I have found healing where other healthcare was lacking. I recommend beginning or strengthening your yoga practice with Charla.

I am Connie Cook, and do not seem to be able to figure out how to take "Anonymous" off! I came to Charla seeking an evaluation because I have muscolskeletal issues. I was seeking improvement of my daily life, as I suspected that I had some biomechanical defects, and in fact Charla helped me discover them. She helped me define goals and gave me a targeted plan, tailored for me. She is incredibly patient, a very clear teacher, good humored, insightful, supportive, with concrete goals in mind. I really don't want to stop seeing her, as I have received very clear and concrete benefits. Sleeping through the night, increased endurance for busy days, easier activities of daily living with better flexibility and strength, reduced pain and stiffness, improved mood...I could probably go on and on. I cannot commend her enough to those with joint issues. Do not be afaid! If you can smile you can do yoga, as Charla says!!
