Carolyne Anthony

Carolyne has been a teacher of movement for most of her life. She began dancing at the age of four and later went on to study professionally as a dancer in London (UK) She obtained her teaching diploma from Stella Mann College in 1982 and went on to dance professionally in Europe and Africa. During this time she was introduced to Pilates and studied with Alan Herdman before heading to the USA. Once in the States, Carolyne became a Professor of Dance at the Hartford Conservatory of Music and Dance and also performed with The New England Dance Theatre. She was also artistic director of The Enfield Civic Ballet.
Carolyne is interested in all types of movement and is also certified as a group fitness instructor and aquatics instructor.
Carolyne’s career changed dramatically when she became pregnant with her first daughter in 1988. Unable to find enough good information about exercise during pregnancy, she began to experiment for herself. However, the deciding factor on her moving towards Women’s Health and activism was a result of a traumatic, unempowered birth. Underlying all of her courses is the education and empowerment of women.
Her company The Center for Women’s Fitness has been at the forefront of Women’s Health movement programs for over 20 years. Her work is now taught by almost 2000 teachers in 40 countries.
