Bryce started in the fitness industry working at the front desk at a local gym in Temecula, CA when he was 16 years old. He quickly began a personal training business and hired seven more trainers in the next three months. He came to fitness, like so many, through his involvement in sports. However, the real draw for Bryce was teaching the science to people in a way that made a change in their lives.
Bryce was a double major, biology and biochemistry, with his sights set on medical school. He was already an EMT and medic in the Army National Guard, and worked in the athletic training room at college. He was working as a personal trainer and fitness director for a national gym chain in Portland, OR, where he was introduced to the Apex Fitness Group. His clients’ success using Apex programs helped him decide that he preferred helping the community to improve their lives.
So, he changed his major, accepted a promotion to Assistant Manager, and learned more about the health club business. He acquired multiple certifications and started or repaired fitness and training programs at three different clubs. He graduated from Portland State University in 1996 with a B.S. in Health Education.
Early in 1998, Bryce went to work for The Apex Fitness Group, consulting to 24 Hour Fitness and teaching certification courses. Even as an educator he was involved in the development of many of the materials and programs that Apex has offered. In 2002, Bryce was promoted to Regional Manager, supervising the company’s activities in the western United States. In 2003 Bryce became the Curriculum Coordinator for Apex Fitness. He was responsible for the direction and development of all educational offerings for the company.
Missing working directly with clients and wanting to spend more time with his family, Bryce left the Apex Fitness Group to become the Director of Fitness for Mavericks Sports Club, in northwest Portland, OR where he expanded its training department offerings and revenue streams. In fall 2004, Bryce left Mavericks to open his own training studio, Real Fitness, LLC. Now, Real Fitness is thriving and expanding and Bryce is expanding his services and offers boot camp programs, corporate wellness programs, and on-line/in-home training using Beachbody programs.
Bryce maintains certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (Certified Personal Trainer and Performance Enhancement Specialist) and The National Strength and Conditioning Association (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), as well as several professional group affiliations. Bryce is recognized as a Master Personal Fitness Trainer by IDEA, the world’s largest health and fitness organization. He trains clients of all ages, while specializing in integrating fitness and performance into his clients’ current lifestyles. Bryce is husband, and father of 2.
