I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO) with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. During my time at UWO, I played middle linebacker for the Titan's football program. I was a four-year letter winner, a three-year starter, a two-year first team all-conference player who was lucky enough to be a part of a program that took UWO to its first ever national championship game.
My Bachelor's degree has allowed me to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). This certification has guided my training philosophy. Although everyone has different needs and different goals, everybody moves the same way, barring a serious injury, because of this I believe strongly in training movement patterns not muscle groups. With the belief of training body movement patterns, my clients can learn the fundamental techniques of most common exercises by learning the basic patterns of each of the six main movements. This allows my clients after a brief but intensive learning period to attack their goals head on without having to take any large periods of time out of training to learn additional movements. The benefit is my clients rapidly learn additional exercises while still maintaining safety and proper technique. No matter what my client's number one goal is the overall priority is always safety.
My training experience started at a small personal training studio which exposed to me working one on one with the general population for the first time. This location allowed me to experience the rewarding nature of the field. I was not in charge of turning good athletes into great athletes, instead, I was granted the opportunity to assist people to change their lives for the better. I got to help people play with their children again, move without pain, feel more confident, return to the activities they love doing, and so much more. My next move was to a large commercial club, Xperience Fitness. My time at this club supplied me with a large amount of people to work with, all with very different goals. I had clients as young as sixteen and clients in their seventies. After some time at Xperience, I made the move to Manitowoc with my wonderful girlfriend and found a home at the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA. My two areas of interest are weight loss and pain management through corrective exercise. I strive each day to make a positive impact in someone's life.
