Alton Smith has been passionate about athletics and fitness since childhood. Growing up playing football, he has always stayed actively involved in strength and conditioning programs. A shoulder injury led him to physical therapy. During his time in therapy, he gained a new respect for physical therapists as well as the desire to acquire more knowledge in corrective exercise and rehabilitation. After graduating from San Jose State University with a degree in Kinesiology, concentrating in Pre-Professional Physical Therapy, Alton has worked in many different realms of health and fitness, such as physical therapist aide in both land and aquatic settings, instructing group water aerobics classes, teaching injury prevention workshops, as well as personal training. These experiences have given him a broader knowledge of corrective and rehabilitative exercise as well as injury prevention techniques. His primary objective is to help his clients become their greatest version and inspire them to reach their full human potential through strength and cardiovascular training as well as sport specific training. One of his strongest beliefs is that when the body is strong, the mind and spirit follow.

    Alton is a terrific trainer. He really pays attention to my pain levels due to my rheumatoid arthritis and adapts my workout if I can't do a particular movement. There is always a Plan B in his workouts and I really appreciate that because there are days when I just can't do certain movements. He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the body and makes sure I am always in proper form so that I don't hurt myself. I've watched other trainers at the gym where I regularly work out and they are not as good at making sure their clients are using proper form to get the full range of motion of a movement. He also listens to my pathetic attempt at excuses, but always just tells me I have 10 more seconds or 5 more reps. :) He doesn't let me quit and that's exactly what I need when working out...someone to push me beyond what I would normally do myself. I always recommend to my friends and family that if they are looking for a great personal trainer that they should look no further than Alton Smith.

    Alton is extremely knowledgeable in the anatomy of the body. He is really good at coming up with different workouts that target specific areas I want to work on. He helped me shed my prego weight!!
