Abby Albaum

Hello! My name is Abby, and I am President and Founder of Hoola Monsters, LLC – a company that specializes in professional fitness hoops, hoop dance classes and performances. I am a full-time hoop dance instructor, hoop crafter and performer who has been teaching hoop dance since 2007. In August of 2010, I left an 8-year marketing and public relations career to pursue Hoola Monsters full-time.

I now travel all over the country teaching hoop dance workshops and performing, and I'm honored and humbled to say that I have been featured as a hoop dance expert in media outlets such as Better Homes & Garden Magazine, the Washington Post and NBC’s nationally syndicated show, Daytime, to name a few.

Hooping is my passion, and I've spent years developing and implementing my hoop dance curriculum. I love watching my students grow and thrive, while accomplishing fitness goals that they never thought were possible. My innovative approach to teaching hoop dance merges trick-based technique with flow practice. I am thrilled to unveil Hoola-Fit in March of 2012, and I describe it as “mindful hoop movement combined with creative dance expression." My goal is to have Hoola-Fit in gyms and fitness centers nation-wide! For more information about me and my hoop fitness program, please check out

Out of curiousity, I took my first hoop dance class with Abby in May, 2010. I was hooked and have taken two classes per week since. Abby never runs out of innovative moves, on and off body, enthusiasm and encouragement for participants at all levels and "challenges" for more advanced students. We enjoy a full body (cardio) workout and stretches but what keeps her loyal following are her technique and inspiration and our sense of accomplishment and rock-out fun.

Abby is a fabulous teacher! She is patient and encouraging, whether you are a beginner hooper or are developing more advanced tricks and skills. I've always left her classes feeling sweaty and happy!!

Abby is an amazing instructor. I've been a student of Abby's for 2+ years. As an instructor she is patient, kind, encouraging, and always positive. She drives her students to step out of their comfort zones and push themselves. Hoop Dance is a unique fitness modality and many people say they "can't do it" but I've seen Abby take a beginner that can't hoop to someone that is doing hoop tricks in one class. What Abby and Hoop Dance offer beyond the fitness aspect is confidence. She doesn't let you give up and celebrates with you as find yourself getting better and better. She is the best fitness instructor I have ever worked with. I will continue to recommend her and her classes to anyone!

I have been taking classes from Abby once a week for the past 3 years. She keeps me coming back week after week by making class so much fun. She has a contagious love for hoop dance and encourages her students to express themselves and to push their limits in a supportive and light-hearted way.
