Description

Lower-extremity disorders and dysfunctions can wreak havoc on a client’s performance and fitness goals. In the past decade, chronic injury rates have risen 4%, so it’s vital to correctly assess clients and teach proper form and movement patterns. Truly, it’s the first step in effectively coaching our clients.

This six-part certificate program provides you with evidence-based techniques to balance the kinetic chain for function, decrease injuries and improve your clients’ overall movement patterns.

Program Highlights:

  • Implement exercises that can authentically translate to daily activities.
  • Describe lower-body integrated biomechanics for optimum function.
  • Apply the five steps of successful program design for clients with lower-body movement dysfunction.
  • Perform and cue exercises that improve movement efficiency in clients who have lower-body movement dysfunction.
  • Develop passive and active assessment skills to identify base-level movement and strength dysfunction.
  • Devise basic programming geared toward correcting hip strength, balance and flexibility dysfunction.
  • Describe the stability–mobility relationship throughout the lower extremities.
  • Identify dysfunctional movement patterns within the lower extremities.
  • Demonstrate how to perform safe, effective exercise techniques for optimal development of the hip extensor muscles.
  • Provide effective coaching and cuing strategies to help clients emphasize ideal movement efficiency from the hips.
  • Outline 10 movements that aid in screening the quality of gait mechanics.
  • Create programs that address the missing components of a client’s gait mechanics and postural misalignments.
  • Apply a selection of exercises that can improve performance, while reevaluating exercises that hinder performance.

The Lower-Extremity Assessment and Program Design Certificate includes:

  • Six engaging and interactive video courses (a $360 value!).
  • Up to 11 CECs/CEUs from ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM, NFPT, WITS and more.

Fitness is all about having the energy and vitality to do what you want to do when you want to do it. Whether you want to add lean muscle mass, compete in an obstacle course race, earn that next pro contract or play with your kids (or grandkids) exercise can help you enjoy your life to the fullest and my role as a personal trainer is to help you achieve that potential. Host of the All About Fitness podcast, blogger (for a variety of fitness companies), public speaker and author. I've had the opportunity to teach workshops to personal trainers around the world and have been quoted in numerous publications (NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, Shape, SELF, etc...) but the bottom line is that I enjoy helping people change their lives and achieve their maximum potential through exercise.
