  • Learn different on-screen communication strategies for livestreamed versus on-demand sessions.
  • Describe the differences among the contrasting mindsets required for teaching live group, live personal training, virtual on demand and virtual livestreaming, and plan how you will be present, well-positioned, productive and honest.
  • Explain why it is necessary to consider orthopedic issues when choosing exercises to help build strength, increase flexibility and decrease pain in active-aging clients.
  • Describe how to progress and regress exercises based on a client’s ability and fitness level.
  • Identify and define the benefits of all three types of teaching in a post–COVID-19 world.
  • Define some big mistakes people make when creating a brand from scratch.
  • Explain reasons for creating a passionate and loyal community as it relates to brand and service success.
  • Outline solutions and variations of solutions to participation barriers, both in person and online.

The skills and mindset to teach in-person v’s virtual differ enormously but both can be learnt. Solution - Understand how to maximise In-person interactions and learn what methods can be adapted to work in the world of virtual coaching. This session - Teaches how to develop a mindset and skills to optimise every coaching interaction.

    This course brings you the most progressive and innovative methods in group fitness to prevent injuries, improve performance and strength for your active aging clientele.   • How to Lead Unforgettable In-Person and Virtual Group Fitness Classes
    Growing a following when you are in-person versus when utilizing live streaming platforms is a unique challenge we all must face head on.  The type of cueing, technology and marketing strategies have to change from one to the other. In this session, learn how to upskill yourself in this era of offering both entry points for your clients and members. After a compare and contrast we will then talk through the hybrid where we stream and teach live simultaneously. Whether it's the technology or teaching strategies you need to understand better, this session will be jam packed with tips, tools and serious life hacks for coaching and teaching in 2020 and beyond.

  • Creating a Passionate and Loyal Community in and Out of the Group Ex Studio
    The Fitness Industry is ever-evolving, and the future is online. Fitness classes, videos, and services have more presence on social media and digital platforms than ever before and the consumer demand is not letting up. Uncover simple tricks and tips for building a sustainable and successful in-person and virtual group following and improve your social media presence, instructor toolbox and consumer experience. This lecture-based workshop will explore and examine the best practices for producing online and in-person fitness content, interactions, and experiences.

    Leslee Bender, 2020 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year, has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. She is the creator of the Bender Ball® method and the director of I am Ageless Now, a progressive program that brings both a wellness and fitness approach to the active aging client. Leslee works and trains in Florida with professional athletes and clients of all levels. She recently co-authored I am Ageless Now—the Book!

  • Tricia Murphy Madden
    Tricia Murphy Madden is a 26-year veteran instructor and education director. She is the national education director for Savvier Fitness and the co-creator of Barre Above® and the Weight Loss Challenge with over 85 master trainers and more than 4300 trained instructors worldwide. For many years, she was the fitness director for Denali Fitness in Seattle, and she is the co-author and creator of a children's book and fitness program called The ABC's of Exercise. Tricia sits on the IDEA Group Fitness Committee and is known for the numerous programs she developed. She was featured on Exercise TV and in many trade and mass media publications and has been the featured coach at numerous corporate events. She has contributed and starred in 12 DVDs that have sold over 100,000 units to date

    Kia Williams, M.S., 200hr RYT is a global presenter, host of Fit and Fierce on the Mic podcast, and freelance Group Fitness Content Creator. Kia is a master educator for Barre above®, Balletone™, and Fluid Strength™, and travels across the nation educating, training, and certifying other fitness instructors. Krista Popowych, BHK IDEA Author/Presenter

Krista Popowych, BHKin brings with her a fitness industry background that spans three-decades. As an award-winning fitness leader both in Canada and on the International stage, she has been recognized for her contributions to the industry. She is a three-time canfitpro Canadian Fitness Presenter of the Year (2016, 2008, 2003) and the 2014 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year winner. Krista is a highly sought-after educator and speaker. In addition to travelling the globe presenting to fitness leaders and program directors, she is the Global Director of Group Education for Keiser and co-created The Ride by Keiser (on-demand, virtual classes). In addition, she sits on boards including the IDEA Fitness Committee, volunteers in the mentorship program at UBC, is a Balanced Body Integrated Movement Specialist and just finished writing her first book called “Partner Workouts” for Human Kinetics Publishing. She inspires others through connecting movement and education and works toward her goal of helping more people add fitness to their daily lives by changing their dialogue from ‘I have to exercise’ to “I get to exercise!”

Leslee Bender

Leslee Bender is the creator of the Bender Method of training. A graduate of the Graduate of the Gray Institute of Applied Functional Science, Leslee’s functional techniques benefit athletes as well as everyday people who want to achieve optimal health and fitness while preventing injury. Leslee is best known for the 2007 Bender Ball Fitness Infomercial and has filmed over 20 DVDs. She presents to trainers internationally, focusing on the analysis of movement and offering certifications in the Barre Above method, which she co-created with Tricia Murphy Madden. She also is an educator for NASM, Real Ryder, and Club Pilates. Leslee lives in Orlando and offers personal training to Central Florida clients. She currently is the fitness adviser of Club True Barre as well as the co-creator and education director for True Bar Fitness systems. In her free time, she water-skis on Lake Hiawassee.

Kia Williams

Kia Williams IDEA Author/Presenter

Kia Williams, M.S., 200hr RYT is a global presenter, master educator, and host of Fit and Fierce on the Mic--a podcast dedicated to providing expert advice, tangible tips and help to improve fitness, refine teaching and coaching technique, and to grow fitness businesses and services. She is an executive board member for Jeremiah 33:6, a not-for-profit holistic health education and preventative medicine corporation and the President of Women in Business (Illinois). Kia is currently serving on the MedFit Education Advisory Board as a partner to launch a Youth Fitness & Nutrition Specialist Program. She is a contributor to the IDEA World Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Women in Fitness Association (WIFA) College and University Engagement Initiatives, and for Savvier Fitness fitness formats such as Barre Above, Balletone, and Cardio Yoga. Kia has contributed as editor and fitness model for books published by Human Kinetics, most notably “Motivational Yoga,” authored by Nancy Gerstein. She has been a featured guest speaker on many platforms and shows such as WFAA News Daybreak, The Pedestal Project, IDEA Virtual. SCW, Fitness Town Hall: Systematic Racism in Fitness with Lawrence Biscontini, Struct Club, WIFA Podcast, The Masters Fitness Podcast with Chan Galloway, All About Fitness Podcast with Pete McCall, and more.
