Description | Award Description: The Associate of Science degree in Exercise and Nutritional Sciences is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor's degree at a transfer institution in an exercise science, health, or nutrition-related major. Common university majors in this field include: Exercise Science, Health Sciences/Public Health, Kinesiology, Nutrition and Food Science, Occupational Health, Physical Education, Pre-Physical Therapy. This degree is designed to accommodate the differing requirements of a wide variety of transfer institutions and major options. Because admission and major preparation requirements vary at each transfer institution, courses used to complete this degree should be selected with the assistance of a Miramar College counselor. The college is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). This is the same organization that accredits other CCC campuses as well as CSU, UC, and other university campuses (Stanford, USD, USC, etc). |

Description | Program Goals: The Associate in Arts in Kinesiology for Transfer is intended for students who plan to complete a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology or a related major in the California State University (CSU) system. Students completing this major gain knowledge and skills in the study of kinesiology and human biology, including: · The basic philosophies, purposes, nature, and scope of Kinesiology as a discipline and as a profession · The subdisciplines and allied fields within Kinesiology · Recommended guidelines for physical activity and nutrition · Human body structure from the microscopic level of organization to the gross level · Human body functions, including but not limited to muscular, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems · The principles and practices of physical fitness and sports activities. Students also select from several supporting courses that are related to the field of Kinesiology and/or articulated to major preparation requirements for the Kinesiology major at a CSU campus. The supporting courses provide breadth of experience in supporting interdisciplinary subject areas. The college is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
