Learning Objectives

    After reading these articles, you should be able to:
  1. Explain the characteristics of extreme conditioning programs (ECPs).
  2. Discuss the benefits and risks of ECPs.
  3. Discuss ways to improve the safety of ECPs for successful implementation to a broad range of fitness levels.
  4. Understand common traits and deficits associated with autism spectrum disorders.
  5. Identify the three areas of ability that should be addressed when working with clients with autism, and show how these areas relate to fitness programming for these clients.
  6. Understand basic approaches for teaching exercise and movement to the autism population.
