Learning Objectives

    After reading this article, you should be able to:
  1. List the four most common running injuries.
  2. Explain how gravity and ground reaction forces affect a runner’s body.
  3. Determine which muscles and movements decrease the potential for injury.
  4. Implement three assessments that can be used to identify specific musculoskeletal/movement imbalances that may predispose clients to injury.
  5. Use corrective exercise strategies to address a client’s underlying musculoskeletal and movement imbalances and alleviate or prevent running injuries.
