After being unhappy with myself and my body image for years, I learned that exercise and taking better care of myself could net big changes in my body and in my self-image and confidence. For the first time in my life, I finally understood that fitness is a lifelong journey and not the quick fix that I had seen it as for so long. Once I came to that realization, I wanted to share the benefits that I had received with others. I want others to learn what their body is capable of when they are proactively living healthier. In May of 2001, I began my journey toward becoming a fitness trainer with a diploma in The Professional Fitness and Nutrition Program from the Professional Career Development Institute. I became a Certified Personal Trainer in June 2006 through the National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA). Other schooling and certifications that I have include: • Second personal training certification through American Fitness Professionals and Associates (AFPA) • Specialty certificates in Stretching Anatomy and Stability Ball Training through NETA and Lower Body Instruction through ACE • AFPA recertification every two years • NETA recertification every two years • Precision Nutrition certification in Sports and Exercise Nutrition • Functional Aging Specialist Certification from Functional Aging Institute The Functional Aging Specialist Certification means that I have in-depth training on how to train older adults. This includes functional training movements, strategies, meaningful assessments, developing exercise programs, and how to work with older adults and their specialized issues. My goal is to help make them stronger and healthier to prevent illness and the issues that come with aging. Many clients have the misperception that they need to be in shape before they start a fitness program, but this is not true. I enjoy meeting a client where they are physically and working within their limitations to build a base of ability and moving from there. The privacy that my personal training studio offers allows someone to work at their own pace with me right beside them. They don’t have to figure it out on their own. They have support and instruction needed to make actual progress, instead of spinning their wheels over and over doing the same thing without results. I don’t just work with clients one on one, however. I also offer small group training that will allow you to work out with a group that you can bond with and that you can cheer for and be cheered on by. Whether you want personal training or prefer small group training, I enjoy working with clients who want to make changes in their lives. I love working with clients who, after being limited in some way, share pride and excitement in being able to do something that they hadn’t been able to do previously, whether it is walking up a flight of stairs without getting winded, being able to squat without back or knee pain, or being able to get up off the floor without help. Being able to positively impact another person’s life in such a profound way gives me an excitement and drive to keep doing what I am doing. I am passionate about learning everything I can about how our lifestyle choices affect our health. I want to continue improving my own health and passing on that knowledge so others can enjoy life to the fullest, instead of being limited by their poor health. And I continually learn more about the body and how it can be healthier and work more efficiently. If you are looking for a drill sergeant or need someone to yell at you to get motivated, or you are looking for a quick fix to lose weight, I am probably not the one for you. However, if you want the tools to make changes to realize your personal goals and realize a better quality of life for the rest of your life, I am the fitness trainer you want and need. Look Good. Feel Good. Live Better! Stacia
