Charge for a small group

Hello, I generally train one on one, however; I was asked about a small group of 4 and not sure what would be appropriate for the fees. It is a small local business and I will be going to them with my equipment. Any suggestions would be helpful.

In situations like this, I typically charge $30 per person, with a minimum of $75. That way, if I'm training 4 people that day, I make $120. If one person skips, I make $90. If two people skip, I still make $75.

Everyones' experiences are different, but I've found this to be the best for me. Instead of cancelling class because one or two people couldn't make it, the class could keep going, and I'd still make a minimum amount that was acceptable to me.

Hey Delia,

There are a couple routes based on your location and business.

1. You could call this a corporate group. I charge no less than $100.00 for a corporate group hour. I bring stuff, there's a lot of people. I get there early. Driving in my area has heavy traffic.

2. If a small group doing PT, I have an hour base price of $80 ($50.00 1/2 hour) for 2 people and then $5-10.00 more per hour for each added person.

3. For larger private groups, like a development or something, I make sure I get my $100 nut cracked while giving them a price per person based on COMMITTED ATTENDEES. I'll tell them it'll be around $10.00 per person. Then~If 12 commit for a 6 week class, then they pay $8.00 per class (Sounds good right?). They pay the full 6 week amount: $48.00 each upfront. Then there's a high drop in charge of $12.00 per class to discourage. Works out great, all paperwork is done on the first day. Everyone's happy.

If charging per attendee it just gets too confusing and time consuming!

Best,
Kimber

You can also charge a monthly fee no matter how many times people decide to train. This way your income is fixed and you won't have to worry if you are going to get paid or not. Drop in fees can be risky because you don't know if any one (or enough people) show up in order to make your time worth.

Harris' comment about having a fixed fee brings up a good point - having a consistent income stream. If you can get a corporate contract for a certain number of months, that's a great way to do business.
