I used to specialize in prenatal/postpartum conditioning (however, many of them stayed with me and so I and they have aged out of that market). (In fact, two of them are now grandmothers!). I started by teaching prenatal fitness classes, and of course, many stayed with me after the baby, so I added postpartum classes. I marketed to obstetricians and pediatricians in my area. I found out the name of the office manager and wrote her an introductory letter. I then visited the office and asked to leave posters and fliers. Almost all agreed, and over time the doctors got to know me through their patients and gave me many referrals.
I also work with moms of all ages and pre/post natal. I've partnered with the local pediatrician, obgyn and family practice clinics. I've also done partnerships with the local hospital and moms groups. Working with a physicial therapy office has also helped to grow my practice. Not only do I get referrals, but I find all these groups help to increase my knowledge base as well.
I actually visited all the offices and made appointments to speak with the physicians or practitioners about what I offer. I offered to do a class for the practice so they could see my skills and set up a referral service. In time as Janet said, they came to trust me and the referrals came.
